Why is it necessary to upgrade exhaust gas treatment equipment at chemical plants?

For a long time, great importance has been attached to environmental pollution caused by chemical plants. To address this issue, a series of measures have been introduced one after another to mitigate such pollution, with the upgrading of exhaust-gas treatment equipment at chemical plants being one of them. So why exactly is it necessary to upgrade the exhaust-gas treatment systems in chemical plants? Many people may not be fully aware of the answer.

So why exactly is it necessary to upgrade the exhaust-gas treatment systems in chemical plants? Many people may not be fully aware of the answer.

Why is it necessary to upgrade exhaust gas treatment equipment at chemical plants?

1. A two-stage treatment system is employed, consisting of a pre-treatment bio-enzyme spray scrubber followed by a post-treatment photocatalytic (catalytic) oxidation and filtration system. Waste gas is collected via pipelines and fed into the Xinye bio-enzyme scrubber for spray washing, which provides both physical dissolution and masking effects. After passing through the scrubber, the waste gas enters the photocatalytic (catalytic) oxidation and filtration system, where high-energy ionic reagents and active free radicals undergo chemical reactions, breaking down the pollutants into harmless byproducts such as carbon dioxide and water. Currently, this approach demonstrates high treatment efficiency and effectively removes particulate matter, paint mist, and various additives including benzene, toluene, xylene, methyl ethyl ketone, and aldehydes.

2. The core of the exhaust gas treatment system in a biochemical plant consists of biofilters (or biofilter towers), composite packing materials that promote biofilm attachment and microbial growth, and dominant microbial strains. Inorganic and organic compounds in the exhaust gas serve as carbon and energy sources, while malodorous substances are mineralized into odorless byproducts such as water, carbon dioxide, and inorganic minerals, thereby achieving the objective of purifying chemically odorous gases.

The foregoing outlines the specific reasons why exhaust-gas treatment equipment in chemical plants needs to be upgraded—namely, to address enterprises that fail to meet environmental protection requirements. Improper operation of such equipment can also result in non-compliance with emission standards. At present, single-type exhaust-gas treatment systems often struggle to achieve compliance with environmental emission standards, which is the direct rationale for upgrading chemical plant exhaust-gas treatment facilities.
